There is an awesome (and free!!) opportunity for
all of us to attend on September 26 at Chapin UMC. Chapin is hosting a
conference called "Better" where together we can learn how to better be
and do church together. Some of the speakers are: Bishop Holston, John
Ed Mathison, and Coach Steve Taneyhill. There will be lunch and free

I am requesting that each member of the District
Outreach Team suggest at least one project or goal for the Team...
something that will involve
many, or all churches in the Columbia District. I would like the
suggestions ASAP... please. Some of the things listed by other district
teams last year were:
Flood buckets and Health Kits; District UMVIM
Team; Disaster Response Training; Health & Welfare Awareness and
Training; serving the hungry; focus on communication; Awareness of both
women and men health issues.
I know that some of you have some good ideas that
we can work on.
I would like to schedule a meeting of the Team on
Thursday, 23 May 2013, at 6:00 pm, at Killingsworth Home.
Epworth Mother’s Day Offering –
Sunday May 12
Across the country, residential
facilities like Epworth Children’s Home are struggling to meet the needs
of the children they serve. Epworth is not immune to these
struggles. While Epworth feels the ever changing tide rolling in, they
have not had to falter from their mission to serve children, youth and
families through a caring, accepting and safe Christian community, where
hurts are healed; hope is nurtured; and faith in God, self and others is
developed. The reason Epworth is able to stand strong, is because
WE – the United Methodist Church of SC – stand with them. Epworth
offers tutoring, counseling, spiritual formation, quality health care
and fun activities for the children. We invite you to give
generously. For more information, visit Epworth on the web at
